We are working to raise awareness about psychiatric nursing and promote the profession. Our primary goals include promoting excellence in practice, and advancing the role of the Texas PMH-APRNs through practice, education and community leadership. Our psychiatric nursing community has suffered a profound loss with the recent passing on July 7 2025 of Donna Rolin, PHD, APRN, PMHCNS-BC, PMHNP-BC. In Memoriam the Dean of the Nursing School wrote the following: Dear Faculty and Staff, With a heavy heart, I share the news that Dr. Donna Rolin, a beloved and respected member of our faculty since 2012, passed away on Monday, July 7. Donna served as director of our Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner graduate program. Among her many roles, she was also co-director of UT Austin’s Institute on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. She was a UT Austin alum herself, having earned her post-master’s certification as a Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner here in 2015. Donna truly embodied what it means to be a nurse educator. She was deeply compassionate, a devoted mentor, and an advocate for mental health care and interprofessional collaboration. Her extensive background in psychiatric nursing and her prolific research advanced both knowledge and practice in our field. Beyond her many professional accomplishments, Donna was known for her warmth, generosity of spirit, and commitment to service that inspired countless students and colleagues. Let us come together as a community to support one another and hold Donna’s family, friends, students, and colleagues in our hearts during this difficult time. Sincerely,
